Our Mission

Mission of the American Orthodox Catholic Church

The mission of the American Orthodox Catholic Church is to faithfully proclaim, preserve, and live the fullness of the Orthodox Catholic faith in its patristic, sacramental, and conciliar integrity, rooted in the apostolic tradition and embodied within the cultural, historical, and pastoral realities of the American people.

The American Orthodox Catholic Church exists to bear witness to the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church through a living continuity with the faith of the Fathers, the mind of the Ecumenical Councils, and the sacramental life received from the apostles.

We are called to plant and cultivate Orthodox Christian life in America not as a foreign transplant, but as an authentic, local expression of the Church catholic, free from ethnophyletism, cultural captivity, and jurisdictional fragmentation. Our mission is not innovation, but fidelity. Not imitation, but incarnation.

The AOCC seeks to form clergy and faithful who live integrated lives of prayer, repentance, family, service, and holiness, proclaiming Christ crucified and risen in word and deed. We affirm the pastoral dignity of the family as the first church, uphold the ancient practice of a married episcopate where appropriate, and labor to restore trust, accountability, and spiritual fatherhood in an age marked by dislocation and scandal.

As a canonical Orthodox body in the American context, we exist to gather the scattered, heal the wounded, catechize the faithful, and extend the mercy of Christ to those who have been alienated from the Church, without compromising doctrine, discipline, or truth.

Our mission is ultimately the same as it has always been since Pentecost: the salvation of souls, the sanctification of the people of God, and the glorification of the Holy Trinity.
